Chiang Mai three King Monument          The Chiang Mai City Art and Cultural Centre: This centre is located in an old building of elegant architectural design built in 1924 as the City Hall and stands on the site of a former royal hall,. The centre received an award in 1999 for preservation of a public building from the Royal Society of Siamese Architects. The Chiang Mai City Arts and Culture Centre is divided into two sections. The front part of the square-shaped building contains permanent exhibits, while the rear section is dedicated to cultural activities, temporary exhibits, a souvenir shop, a lecture theatre, an exhibition hall for Lanna arts and an archive.           The museum has special rooms devoted for history, culture and Buddhism. You can feel the essence of the region as guides of Chiang Mai Arts and Cultural Centre, who are gracefully carrying the traditional Thai attire, take you through all sections in the museum.

          Tourists can also watch an orientation video about the history of Chiang Mai. The language used in the video is in Thai but it carries English subtitles for the convenience of non Thai visitors.

          Chiang Mai Arts and Cultural Centre has a numerous rooms documenting the history and culture of the region from the very beginning to the present scenario of the city the museum also showcases the future plans for Chiang Mai. One room of Chiang Mai Arts and Cultural Centre also displays for sale contemporary works by famous Chiang Mai artists.

          Chiang Mai Arts and Cultural Centre pay special section which is dedicated to Buddhism and other regional beliefs. This section also highlights the agricultural history, migration hill tribes, formation of hill tribe villages and other regional cultures.

          The exhibits of Chiang Mai Arts and Cultural Centre consist of a mix of animated visuals, scale models, enlarged photos, voice over in Thai and subtitles in English. You can visit the museum any day except Monday. The museum opens at 8 in the morning till 5 in the evening. Admission fee of Chiang Mai Arts and Cultural Centre is Baht 90.
